Mei Schulz´s interest and love in Persian dance derives from her Persian backgroung from her mother´s side. She learned the basics from her mother and performed with her as a child in some occasions. Besides classical Persian dance she has dancing experience and education in classical ballet. Mei has been giving courses in Persian dance  in Hurum, Norway since 2009 and been performing in several occasions ever since. It is after the Tribal Camp in Oslo in 2009, a rare opportunity she ceased to participate on a course in Persian dance in Norway (by Sophia Mirlashari from Sweden) that the sparkle and love for Persian dance, a significant part of her favorite artistic expression came back in her life. Mei has also great interest in Afghan dance that is her latest addition in her repertoire. Mei wishes to share and spread this beautiful forgotten art form from Iranian-Afghan culture and also this way break the stereotype of a surpressed and captured Middle-Eastern woman, who is so much more than an unpassionate, passive and sad figure under the veil.
